What is LED light therapy?

LED light therapy, sometimes called phototherapy, uses specific wavelengths of light to trigger natural processes in the skin. Different wavelengths penetrate to different depths and influence the skin in different ways. The treatment is non-invasive, painless and requires no downtime, which makes it a versatile addition to many skin programs.

How blue light helps acne

Blue light targets the bacteria associated with acne breakouts. By reducing the bacterial load in the pores, it helps calm active acne and reduce the frequency of new lesions. Blue light is often combined with other acne treatments to improve overall results.

It is particularly useful for:

  • Active, inflamed breakouts
  • Oily, congestion-prone skin
  • Supporting acne recovery between stronger treatments

How red light calms and repairs

Red light penetrates more deeply and is known for its calming and regenerative effects. It supports circulation, soothes redness and promotes healing, making it valuable after more intensive treatments and for sensitive or reactive skin.

Red light is commonly used for:

  • Redness and irritation
  • Post-treatment recovery
  • Supporting overall skin health and repair

Combining wavelengths

Many of our treatments use LED as a finishing step. After hydrodermabrasion, a chemical peel or a skin needling session, LED light soothes the skin and supports recovery. It is also a feature of our acne-focused facials.

What LED light therapy can and can't do

LED supports and enhances results, but on its own it is a gentle modality rather than a strong corrective treatment. It shines brightest as part of a plan, layered with treatments like the LED Acne Facial for breakout-prone skin, or after skin needling to support healing.

Building a plan around your skin

Because LED complements so many treatments, the best results come from integrating it into a personalised program. Dafni will assess your skin and recommend where LED fits within your treatment plan, including which wavelength and frequency suit your concerns.
